The week began with a monumental victory for the Democrats with Sen. Raphael Warnock’s win in Georgia. This race was through to give the Dems some them breathing room. But last night Sen. Sinema of Arizona announced she’s leaving the Democratic Party and has as an Independent. She will not not caucus w/ the Democrats.
So today, let’s talk about Sinema, the leverage that she has created and what it means for both Arizona and the entire Senate. Is this kind of action the future? Will we see more candidates follow suit, drifting away from the parties as they become more and more entrenched – and as a way to create their own leverage within Congress?
Also this week – was this a good week for Joe Biden? For Democrats it could be seen as week full of policy wins, capped off with the return of Brittney Griner from Russia.
Finally, Congress approved even more funding to support Ukraine. Where does it all lead?
