A lot has happened in the last year since the 2024 election and in the odd number year after a presidential election the focus is on New Jersey and Virginia which have been bell-weather states. So let’s look at the current state of these elections, and the all important New York City mayoral election. There are critical challenges that Mamdani faces as he transitions from a campaign figure to a potential governing leader. We discuss his lack of administrative experience and the ongoing pressure he will face if inaugurated as mayor. There are parallels to Obama’s rise through digital politics and swift rise to fame as well and will those advantages create headwinds or tailwinds in a potential Mamdani administration?
