Today we’re talking about the California recall. Gov. Gavin Newsom beat back the challenge with a large turnout and a sizable margin of victory. Is this also a big victory for Joe Biden and the Democrats?

Newsom has faced and continues to face very large challenges in California from wildfires to homelessness, drought and more. At this point, California stays blue but the lesson for Newsom is that there were enough people who were dissatisfied with his performance to trigger a recall.

So what got the Governor into this situation? We’ll debate the source of the discontent and talk about the Calinfomia recall system. Is it a good one? What was accomplished after spending $250million on the process?

Finally – we’ll look at the current standoff over raising the debt limit. Will the GOP strategy of threatening a default backfire or is it good politics for McConnell?
